why would sony make the laser have better playback with burnt games. that make no sense. and on the psx why would they have a dvd burner. because everyone that buys a psx willl be burning ps2 games unless they can make it so u cant burn ps2 games. ?!?!?!?!?!
Did you even read the first part of my thread? The upgrades I am talking about make no mention of a $200.00 disc drive. Also where did you get the info that Sony would be releasing this unit mid to late fall? Granted I know they just released the online game unit, and it stands to reason that it would probably be released later but I would like to hear factual info on the release of the upgraded unit I described at the beginning of this thread.

There won't be much difference between the upgraded ps2 & the ps2 version out now...I say if you have the money & want a chipped ps2 go ahead & get one now because the release date for the upgraded ps2 is mid to late fall & who knows, sony could even back that up till christmas. The upgraded ps2 will be 200.00 so the improvements sony make can't be that great...for example they aren't going to put a 200.00 disc drive in a 200.00 system...the laser quality will probably stay the same. So, In my opinion don't wait for the upgraded one because it really isn't worth it. unless you have extreme patience unlike me
I never said you stated that it was going to have a 200.00 drive included...I wasn't really referring to your orignial post that you posted...just saw the headline of the post & was directing my comments to the overall posts...I was just giving an example that Sony isn't going to go out of their way to give us a super natural updated ps2....& for the mid to late fall thing...I premod ps2 systems for people & have been able to purchase new & refurbished systems from sony & was told by a Sony Rep that old stock(V7)'s weren't moving off the shelves as quickly as they hoped & that would probably delay the release of the updated version to the U.S.
