So I'm looking at ordering a mod chip and installing it but I can't figure out what version PS2 I have! I have looked at a couple web pages but none of them seem to have my model? this one does http://www.mod-chip.com/ps2version.htm but it says it's v9, which i find hard to believe. I tried to get the MC exploit going but to no avail (although that could be my fault... yes I did BIDATA-SYSTEM and all that, ftped to it many times with many different configs but the PSX game always boots)

anyway, could someone have a look at this please:

    I have a japanese ps2 SCHP 50000 NTSC/J (the white W32 one)
    versions:

    Console SCPH-50000
    Browser 1.40
    CD Player 2.00
    PlayStations Driver 1.02
    DVD Player 3.02

a couple quick snaps of the back of my machine:

    I'm assuming because it's made in China that it's a V11?

oh yeah, the other option is if anybody knows where i can get it modded in japan and just let someone else deal with it instead I'm about 180kms north of tokyo

I think you have a v11. If it doesn't play the exploit then it's a v11. Funny thing about the PSX Driver because my v9 uses the 1.11 driver but then again it's a US system. I dont know about any japanese modders but keep looking around. I hope this post helps and enjoy your white ps2!

well thats the thing, i can't say that it definetly doesn't run the exploit, it could just come down to my stupidity. And yeah, like you said, that psx driver is whacko. And here I thought I was all cool with a white playstation, and it just creates more problems than it's worth
If I open up the ps2, what should I be looking for to distinguish between V10 and V11?

    Maybe I have a V10.5!

    The v11 should have a GH-029 motherboard while a v10 should be GH-026. I hope this helps.

    And V9 has a GH-023 motherboard:P

To my knowledge, most white PS2s (from Japan and from HK) are V9/V10. Have yet to see a V11..
