hi i have a ps2. its been a year or two since ive messed with it. i dont remember what version it is(if someone could supply me with that info it would be appreciated) it was chipped i think with the soldered neokey but i lost the front usb part of it within the two years. the reason i havnt been playing is because the lens stopped working. it will boot up fine but when i put in any disc it says "please insert a playstation or playstation 2 disc". my buddy told me to move the white circle a few notches to change the level of the lens. i did but it didnt work. so now my ps2 wont read discs im missing a peice of my modchip and i dont know where to start or what to do.
hmm i think you should send it off for repair. There are a few good gyus on the forum that could help you out, im one of them. I could look at it and see what the problem is, then if it can be fixed i got dms3+ chips for $15.00 and $25.00 installation fee.
If it's a neokey, it'll be V3 or V4. If you're getting that error message, it shows that your laser is, in fact, reading, 'cos otherwise you'd get a "disc read error". Get someone to install a proper chip (direct boot) and clean your laser and you should be ok.
South Africa. Repairs, chips etc.
awesome, thanks you guys were a big help. but if anyone else has any other solutions please feel free. thanks!
