Argh, so while troubleshooting, I removed everything (MI chip, neofix, and wires), and now when i turn on the ps2, the light switch goes green briefly for about a second and then automatically turns back to red. I hope this doesn't mean that i fried the ps2

Someone give me hope! Let me know what this means.

    Thanks

    i will give you hope

when a system turns of it self it means something is wrong in the electronic circuit ,now is there a common failure on the v12 serie and that is ps14
if you had searched the forum before posting you could have found it

Check the fuse and i am almost sure it will work again

If you need someone to fix your ps2, I can fix it for $20-30 + return shipping.

Sorry for hijacking, but I also have a similar problem with my v12 with MI and laserfix (not sure wich one). Though it boots normaly if there is no disc present. As soon as I insert a disc it shuts down.
This happend last night when trying to play Dragon Quest VIII and it had a hard time loading (the laser made a whole lot of noise and it didn't sound healthy). Then after trying several other games to see if it worked better with originals and other backups, it just didn't want to do anything anymore.
I installed the chip over half a year ago and have not had any problems earlier.

Does this sound like its the ps14 fuse? And if so, can I find a similar fuse on my old defect v4 that I can use as replacement?

the problem is in the laser and not i a fuse
the laserfix turns the machine off when a crash is detected on the mechadon ,this can happen with some media or when your coils are already damaged a bit,
