i have alot of reading to do but i am hoping someone may be able to speed the process up for me. first is a 50001 worth chipping? does it have lazer issues? if it is what chip will autoboot, play off harddrive? i dont plan on using it for much else other than play ps1 and 2 backups, but i may want to try ps2 online play , as i have never tryed it.
soldering is not an issue, i mod xboxes everyday and have successfully upgraded the ram in a few. other words i dont care how many wires but i do want a hardwired chip.
thanks for any info you can provide,

as long as you put a fix like romeo your laser will be fine, as for chip either matrix infinity, crystal chip, or dms4 pro

I recently found this overview of modchips. It has pretty much everything I would try to explain as possible mod-chip options. There are of course other chips, but these three are the top as far as I know.
Hardware: PS2 v7 (GH-022) NTSC | Crystal Chip 2.0 Pro SLE | Sony Network Adapter | 300GB Segate HDD
Software: uLaunchELF 4.40 | HDLoader 0.8c | HDL_Dump 0.8.6+GUI | SMS 2.9 (Rev.3)
My Projects: uLaunchELF - skins/template | skin template readme | documentation (contributor)
