What to check for..

My PS2 is behaving badly. I chipped it a couple of months ago, with a Magic 2 (It's a V5 UK PAL console).

The other day it locked up while the missus was watching a DVD, and it locked up EXACTLY on the layer change point.

It's also been complaining about DVD read errors whilst playing PS2 game GTA Vice City (Original, not a backup).

The console was fine before I chipped it...

Now I assuse, as the lockup was at the layer change point, this points to a installation issue, rather than a dirty lens...

Anyone got any pointers on what I should be looking for when I pull it apart, what connection points etc...

I might be wrong on this but the magic 2 had some dvd9(dual layer) issues. On the us v.5 console it was supposed to actually work however for all the other consoles it was really hit or miss. I do not know if it applies to the pal consoles, but that could be your problem.

If im wrong then I apologize for misleading you.
