I have a GH-004 that was modded, which seems to behave sometimes, but almost at random it starts to flake out. If it flakes out at the browser, the electrons start moving so fast that they blur together making really cool designs, and if it flakes out before booting up, the "new ps2" setup screen appears. I separated all of the bios wires, cleaned up the bios legs and other solder points, and made sure that there are no crosses or pressures against them, and the problem still occurs. The 3v3 wire is 3 cm long, and ground is less than 1cm.

TOO MUCH FLUX
try removing all excess flux inbetween the bios legs with a toothpick then q-tip and rubbing alcohol

Sorry, forgot to mention that it was a crystal chip 1.2 (with the 128kb flash).
I did take care to remove the flux and debris from the bios legs under magnification before the post, but didn't do it for other points. It's worth a try.

Seemed like that worked, but now it doesn't want to load the firmware disc at all. Thanks, though.
