Change from a Magic 3.0 to any other non-swap chip including Magic 3.1. Magic 3.0 doesn't like DVD9.
I can get a 3.1 and directly switch it right? There would be no soldering on the MB right?
right.

Although I think precisionmods has proven that the boot rate for DVD9 games on a Magic 3.1 is only about 40%. Switching to a Magic 3.1 may get your game to boot occasionally, but that doesn't seem like a good solution either. My advice, dump the Magic and get a Messiah...you won't be sorry.
40% as in takes a few tryes, or probably never?
When I tested Magic 3.1 the DVD9 load rate was much higher. DVD9 backup was about 15%. But the real thing was pretty much 100%.
On my tests, it only booted 3 out of 10 tries. I think an Apple Pro or even Magic V might suit this user better. Of course Messiah would be the best choice.
What about the Xeonosaga Swap. does this work?
apple pro uses the exact same points as magic
