what is the best Modchip now??

and can i install it on my DAMN ps2

The Messiah 2 is best. Need more info to identify your ps2 version. Look here. If you have a v1-v3 don't bother modding it. v4 maybe. v5 and up go for it.

why the messiah2 is not good with the v1-3

they said it is for all verisons V0-V8

They do work for all versions, but v1-v3 had terrible lasers, and you need a good strong laser for playing backups.

It should be ok, but you will likey have to use very good media at all times such as Ritek or Verbatim. If I were in your shoes I would sell it and buy a nice new v7, but that is just me.

Why on earth would you say that???? I have a v3 modded with a Messiah 2 and it works like a champ! I couldn't be happier. I also did a friends v1 with a Messiah 2 and it also doesn't miss a beat. I don't know why you would bag on the older units like that.

Most likely, over time the laser will die. It strains to read the backups and although it can do it, it's working harder and it's life is shortened. It's possible that you'll never have problems with it, some don't, but there's been a lot of reports of dead lasers with the old PS2s even without modding.
