I modded my first V15 (SCPH-77001) today, modded many many PS2's, Xboxes, Gamecubes previously.
The install looks good, soldering looks solid etc. Here is the weird part.
When I first booted it, I held down to buttons to access the mod chip menu and it came up fine. When I rebooted, all I got was a black screen (like if it was installed wrong). I turned it on and off about 5times and kept getting a black screen and nothing else.
Then I held down start when turning on the system to disable the chip (don't know why I tried this instead of going back to check my soldering work). Well it came up saying the chip was disabled (like it should), and then the system worked fine with the chip disabled.
So I turned the system off and on, and now the system works fine with the chip enabled. I have tried many games, rebooted and powered the system on and off about 50 times and everything seems to be working perfect now.
Anyone ever heard of this problem before? The system has been working perfectly since that initial problem and I have yet to have another problem.

I thought that chip was a matrix infinity clone - if so, you just fried it by trying to access the settings and then saving them. I'd suggest getting a real MI chip.

Did you actually read my post???? The modbo745 allows settings changes (which I didn't change OR save) without frying. And like I said, everything works perfect now. If the chip was fried then it wouldn't be working fine now.
All I am asking is if anyone has seen this before on a 77001........The chip not working until you disabled and re-enabled it.

And I would love to buy real MI's, but considering they are 3X the price of the modbo745, they are just not worth it. I can live with not being able to upgrade the firmware in exchange for the huge savings.

Ya huge savings because you prob buy them from gamecubesuxs for $14 and sell them to your customers for $100 with install LOL.. Your customers could get a REAL Matrix Infinity installed in their system for less than you charge for a clone..

Ofcourse I read your post - but based on the fact that it's not acting normal, I thought it was possible that the chip got corrupted, even though it's working now. Just because it's working for the moment, doesn't mean it will continue to work in the future.

the new modbo chips are very stable and reliable. Just as long as retailers and installers dont pawn them off as real matrix infinity's, then everything is a-ok.

I never claim to anyone that they are MI's. All my customers know it is a modbo745 and what they can/can't do compared to an MI. And if they want, I install an MI for the difference in my cost extra. But 95% of people choose the modbo745 because it is cheaper and does exactly what they need.
And to comment on my prices? It is simply economics. I am the cheapest option here for PS2s. Their other choice is $120. So why would I charge $40 if their other choice is still $120? It is simple supply and demand. If I truly was overcharging, no one would come to me, and that would force me to lower my price which is not the problem at all.

All this thread was asking is if anyone else has seen this issue on the V15. I have put in about 12 hours of testing on the system and it is working perfect since that initial (only) problem.
