  1. #1 weird DMS3 V9 issue - works *most* of the time

ok, i modded my V9, it went well, no snags or anything. mounted wires as per instructions at DMS3 site, including wire routing, short/thick ground, etc.

    psx games - run fine
ps2 games (rip type - written to cd) - run fine
ps2 games (dvd) - normally fine, but about 1 out of every 5 tries i get the following:
    either:
    - (25% of the time) blue startup screen doesnt go away as fast as it normally would, followed by the red screen (fail to authenticate)
    or:
    - (75% of the time) makes it past 'playstation 2' logo, but stays at blank screen after that. this also seems to happen more often with dvd+r than dvd-r.

this is a brand new v9 ps2, so i doubt the laser is an issue (but i suppose anythings possible).

soldering/routing should be good. i even broke down and bought the hot glue gun this time around

the games i am trying worked perfect (100% boot), on my older v5/magic setup.

any suggestions as to what can be causing this?

there is issues with the DMS3 V9 doing this. Try putting the game in then going to standby and booting from standby while holding select on the controller in port 1. Also, turn the ps2 on in PS2 mode, go into the browser and insert the disc. It should then work fine.

I myself have this problem sometimes on the DMS3 V9, make sure the clock is set to the proper date, I now barely have that problem with the freezing after playstation2 logo after I set my ps2 to the right date and all.

DMS3 need to stop being so lazy and put out a 100% working bios we payed $60 for their chip it should work with no problems i have the same problem but if i hit fast boot it will load it only happend to me twice after the playstation 2 logo it will just stay at the black screen. Like i said its only happend twice 98% of the time it will boot a ps2 dvd-r just like clockwork and everything else works fine all the time ..

You should check your lazer even if it is new. If your DVD pot is reading 1300ohm and over, this may sometime give your the problem of unable to read you DVDR that work on your V5.

I get that problem sometime with good installation. Adjust the lazer dvd pot to near 1300ohm if it orginal sits around 1400-1600ohms and that fixes the problem.
