weak laser –
during a modchip install (Mars 2) on a version5 ps2 i blew the ps1 fuse. so i backed out of the install and replaced the ps1 fuse. i reassembled the ps2 and it powered back on but now it wont load any types of media. the laser sounds VERY weak and really struggling to even spin the disc. ive tried another drive and the problem remains.
does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be or where the supply lines are for the laser/ drive etc.
all help appreciated
It sounds to me like youve put an incorrect fuse in or somthing, or soldered somthing back wrong (but im a n00b at this so dont take my word on it )

Any other symptoms - does it eject fine? Does it read any ps1/ps2/dvd's?
check the laser ribbon on the bottom of the laser and where is plugs into the MB, this would cause the problem your having or the BA5815FM controller chip is damaged as this controls tracking, focusing and sled movement.
You should check the BA chip, I had the same problem when removing a chip.
