  1. #1 Video problem... electrons then crazy video
    acidflea Guest
I have a ps2 that had an old mod chip installed from modchip.com. The video stopped working. When i turn it on i can see like a few blue lines on the screen then it goes to white lines that look like a ribbon cable going from top to bottom of screen. I can still goto the configuration section and move up and down through the menu and see it moving but cant read anything... I took it apart and found a diode that says"47" and "10v" so I am thinking this id part of the problem. But I dont know where it goes. I did remove the mod chip and it still does the same thing... I am getting sound also.

    Thanks...

The component in question is a Tantalum capacitor valued at 47uF 10 volts and NOT a diode. You need to check around the chip shown in the pic Ive attached to see if the component goes in around there. Even if you do find the spot of where it goes to, the component MUST be orientated the correct way, otherwise it could pop.
I'll check a fauty version 3 board I have and I'll give you an idea of where it should go and which way it should be mounted.
Sit tight and I'll check for you.

I can't find any component on the V3 main board that's marked: "47 10v"??? Here's a pic of the top of a v3 main board, hopefully you can compare yours with it and discover what component is missing.
    Good luck!!!

P.S. Sorry for the poor quality, but I had to cut the file size down from 5.5Mb. Just zoom in and that should help.

I'm just wondering if the component fell off one of the sub-boards in the PS2???
Check with the pic I've provided first, then we may need to look at the sub-boards.

Hmmm..... There is a definate possibility that the component has come from one of the sub-boards, but unfortunately I don't have any spares to look at. I only have two dud main boards for the version 3, but I might ask a friend that has a V3 PS2 if I can split it open so's I can have a look.
Sit tight once again and I'll check.
