Basically, the success of this method, greatly relies on ur luck (my guess).
I tried to return my v4 ps2 about 2 months ago at my local walmart for a new v7 ps2. But when I got to the counter-top, the lady called in a tech guy, and he inspected the ps2 for like a minute. Then he just told me that he can't do anything about my ps2, and that he cant give me an exchange.
My guess, is that probably he was smart enough to check the manufactoring label and spotted the model # difference.
(BTW, my old ps2, still had the warranty intact.)
So I would say that, if the person that exchanges the ps2 is very SMART and actually knows about checking to make sure the ps2 is correct, then chances are, you won't be getting a swap.
And also, I wouldn't recommend going to EB to do the swap since the majority of the employees their specialize in the "electronics" department.
One more thing, you can't get arrested for this. Theres no proof of you being guilty of comitting any crime. However, you could get "emotionally" banned from Walmart or something... lol.
