Video rolls –
What would cause the video to roll on a V7 with a messiah2 when playing HK silvers. It plays DVD+r backups just fine. The same games play just fine on another V7.
I'm assuming that your PS2 is a PAL machine, connected to a PAL system TV. If so, then your TV is the problem. HK Silvers are usually in NTSC format and your TV can't handle the different vertical frequency. PAL runs at 50Hz, where NTSC runs at 60Hz.
You need to find a vertical hold control on your TV. Hopefully you should find it in the front panel, or the rear of the set. If you find no manual control, then it may need internal adjustments or internal modification.
If your lucky enough to have a manual vertical hold control, then all you need to do is find the centre frequency. You can find this by doing the following:
Play an NTSC game through your telly.
While its rolling, adjust the control until you lock the picture in.
Now, play a PAL game through your TV, and slightly adjust it until it stops moving.
Keep alternating the games until you find the optimum position where the picture locks with both NTSC and PAL games.
Good luck, and I hope you do have an external V-Hold control.
I'm sorry . I should have said the machine is NTSC. Thanks for any info you can give me
It's likely to be a PAL game if your TV is NTSC. That would cause it to roll. The PS2 puts out the back whatever the game TV standard is.
The tv was a friend's. He brought his ps2 to work and we tried it on a $20 5" tv and it worked fine. That very same game, Xenasaga, will only show the ps2 logo on my v7 with a messiah 2 and then it freezes. Every other hk silver and dvdr works fine?????? Thanks for the info on the roll
