Very strange ps2
I recently did a chip on a V9 GH-023 ps2 with a magic 50k ,all went well till i decided to power iet up, the ps2 goes from standby(red light) to power on mode(green led) for about two second and then goes back to standby.
I rechecked all the wires and checked for solder splatters there where no problem, I then removed the chip and still the exact same thing  .
At this moment i have tried:
1 replacing the la
2 going trou all the fuses
3 the laser, power buttons does work if i put iet into another machene
And still the exact same thing :banghead: .
Enaybody have a faint idea whats wrong?

from what i've read on this forum, it seems like a bios pin shortage. maybe check them with magnifying glasses for bridges, and doublecheck with a multimeter.
-
I just finnished checking the bios ic and well iets not that,I even went over the pins with a hot air blower and the darn mechine still does the same.
-
Just throwing out ideas here.......I thought I read somewhere that when the console only stays on for about two seconds, it is indicative of an overheating problem. Hows the fan?
-
Well the fans are fine, the mechine works if i change the motherboard with one of my spare ones, so iet must be something on the motherboard i think.
Thank you lovingit and meyousikmann for the quick replys.

Well i had the same thing and i found out that the mechcontrol is dead :(
Connect the ps2 to power suply while it's open and u can see the components.
Touch with you'r hand the Regulator switch on the down left of the bios (maked IC403), and see if it's getting very hot, check pin 4 and see if u have 1.8 volts or highr. if u do have above 1.8 and the regulator getting very hot, it means you'r mechcontrol is drawing lot's of current. touch it with the back of you'r fingers (while in standby mode) and wait and see if it heating, if it does - sorry you'r mechcontrol is dead.
