I have noticed on some guides for identifing version numbers that they list that the board might be a version 4 but the bios will be a version 5 or 6. Does this matter?
I mean do I go by the board version number for the install or the bios version number? Also is there anything else I need to be aware of when identifing ps2s for installs?

go by the board version for installation pictures the messiah 2 magic 3 detects the bios revision automatic with out intervention.

One more question if possible. One of the boxes here I have is a 30001R unit but the serial number starts with FU and it doesn't fit any of the guides I have seen to determine the version number. This is the only one out of 20 that doesn't fit into the guide I am using. All other 30001R units have a U1, U2, U3 etc... serial number. Is there some other way to check? Or some guide to judge by that I am overlooking? Thanks.
One of my 30001r's has the FU###### serial thought maybe it was a V6 but after opening it up, it was just a regular V5.

I think that is what mine has. 2b datecode for sure. I don't have it here or I would check the serial number. Why?
