Version 4 won't power on and stanby light green –
If anyone has any idea's on anything else to try with the problem I have below I'd really appreciate it:
To cut a long story short I installed a Messiah into a pal version 4, unfortunatly it had previously had a no solder mod installed, this caused the power/reset connector on the main board to become weak causing the standby/reset button + leds not to work.
Anyway whilst I was away the owner of the ps2 had a go at installing a new ribbon cable but was a bit heavy handed and broke the clip off the connector, also leaving tiny fragments of metal around the connector.
To get round this I've tried soldering link wires between the connector and power switch, it hasn't done the trick all that happens now is the stanby light is green instead of red and the buttons do nothing.
I have found one fuse that was blown so I'm starting to suspect the problem is deeper than just the power switch as I've triple checked each wire is going to the right point on the standby/reset button connector.
Does anyone have any ideas what the green light at standby means or any tips ? Thanks
I suggest you buy 2 new reset eject switches, use one as your reset eject switch, and take the connector off of the second one, and replace your broken one with that.
then get a new ribbon, that might do it.
but then again your problem could be deeper
I'm pretty sure a new reset cable would make no difference, as with my link wires there is continuity between each point on the damaged connector and each point on the standy/reset button unit.
I also forgot to mention that I,ve removed the messiah and all wires so thats also out of the equation.
thanks anyway though.
