Ver.10 Matrix infinity problems, need some advice. –
Hi, it's been a while since I've been in the scene. I just picked up a preowned ver10 ps2 from gamestop, looks brand new too. I took it home, tested it and it worked fine with regular games & dvd movies. Well I just installed the Matrix infinity which I purchased from modchip man, and it doesn't boot any backups. I tried DVD-R, CD-R backups which I've had a while that worked on previous installations, they just won't boot. The only way I could get an original game ot dvd movie to boot is to put the game in or dvd, while on standby hold the reset button till the LED is blue on eject, let go and it will then boot. Other then that I can't even get originals to boot by just puting the disc in. If I do put the disc in alone it will not let me use my controler peroid at the browser screen, and the reset/eject if I push them nothing will happen, forcing me to turn off the console from the back. I resolderd all wires, tested all points with a multimeter, there's no bridging. The Ground and 3.3 cables are a bit long though, about 1.5 inchs each since I followed the infinity diagrams, that's as close as I could get. Maybe I need an alternative 3.3 & Ground point? Here's a picture of where I placed the chip, I put electrical tape ontop of the chip and bottom as well to avoid any shorting, double side tape to hold it down.
Placement of my chip
Any help would be greatly apreciated, this is the 1.36 bios it came shipped with btw.
did u double check that the wiring is all correct? sounds like a bad wire.
Yeah I did, that's the first thing I did when I re-solderd everything.
Well I forgot to connect the Y wire after resoldering it for 3rd time, well atleast now this time it flashes the firmware. Well why the hell does it freeze both reset and eject buttons when I try to play anything even real discs? Please give me a hand here folks, I'm off to florida in the morning for a vacation and I was hoping to play a lil ps2 >.>
Sorry for being totally off topic here but are you the same Reticulex on FFXI Pheonix server?

I can boot the cd-r with new firmware but it hangs when trying to flash. But you say it worked when you forgot the Y cable?
Yeah, flashing the firmware worked when connecting Y after resoldering it. The ps2 still won't boot anything though =/
problems weird like this one often come from bad controller connections. did you do the A G I B solders directly on the chip pins or on alternative points?
if they're done on alternative points maybe that the wires are too long and try also to reduce the crossings between wires. if you did them directly on chip pins, check for at least 1.3 Mohms between adjacent pins (it's better if they are > 4 Mohms): a resistance around 100 Kohms that may not be considered a short, is just too low.
Thx m8 for the reply, I'll try and make them shorter. Off to florida when I get back I'll hopefully fix it. Btw, I tested the alt points in refrence with the top points on the chip pins, and they do get continuity, so that means there is a good connection. Also I heard something about puting some wires over gnd point flat against the board?
