V9laser terrible noise
V9laser terrible noise –
what i got here is V9 and noisy laser, when i startup the console, it sounds like laser is hitting something... takes few secs and then stops, when you insert disc it boots it but when loading the game it makes the same noise... i removed modchip but it still does that, didnt remove Romeo fix... anyone with ideas?
The v9 lasers suck... and I had one that did this and I cleaned the lense with a qtip and alcohol and bammo it worked like new...
Or it could be the laserhead guide.
This part is screwed to the laser head and the guide's teeth fit into the worm gear motor driveshaft to move the laser head back and forward - see attached pic for location/ID of part.
This will make a clicking/chattering noise when the teeth get worn and run over top of the worm drive instead of driving the laser head back and forward. It is more noticable when you first load a game and when reading at higher speed. I have noticed that this is more of a problem in the V9/V10 consoles than any other version of the console.
On a sidenote: Does anyone have a good source/supplier for replacement KHS400C laser heads - not refurbished ones

yeah i now noticed that its the one making the noise, where can i get new parts or how do you fix those?
if its the metal arm and not the plastic one remove laser, bend this metal arm down a little to make better contact with worm gear and see if that helps
