  1. #1 V9 PS2 with Neo12 Chip wont play any games!
    DivX-Magic Guest
    Hi!

sorry for my bad english iam from germany

2 month ago i chipped my V9 PS2 with a Neo12 Modchip! PS2 Backups/Originals works fine but no PS1 Games! I dont play much PS1 games so it doesn´t matters!

Since 2 weeks the PS2 wont play any PS1/PS2 Game! The Ps2 freezes in a loading part in the game and i had to reset! Since then the PS2 wont start! I already got tipps from the shop where i bought the Chip but the PS2 wont work again! I already clean the lense, check all soldering connections and the resistors for the DVD/CD Laser but nothing! I would discribe it as a bad connection/loose contact because the PS2 dont freeze always at the same time! Sometimes the PS2 wont recognize that a Game disc is insert, sometimes the game freezes in the loading part!

One example: GTA Vice City is loading and stats to play the video at the start! After a few seconds the Video starts to lag! It lag more and more and after a few time the video freezes! After the video freezes the DVD drive starts so spinn and stop again and this repeats! Its like a PC whos getting to hot and start to lag!

I hope you can help me with my Problem!

    Greetings from Germany

This can be caused by several things:

    - media that you use (if you tested it with several type of media, then it is not probable)
    - a picky laser *you should check the coil resistance, before LA burns*
    - cold solder point on the BIOS or on the DVD controller

This last is the most probable in your case.

    Hi!

    Thanks for the answer!

The medias couldnt be the problem because the medias works over 6 weeks with the PS2 and suddenly nothing works!

What do you mean with a picky laser? can you explain it? I already read about the coil resitance! I will check it together with all sonder points!

Where is the DVD Controller on the Board? I dont think that a have solder at the DVD Controller!

    Thanks

Sony have been producing low quality lasers and many fails after hours/days/weeks. So I mean that maybe your laser starts to burn out, and this is a very serious problem for your LA chip, especially if the Romeo modification was not applied on your board.

As I do not know this chip that you have, I do not know what points you have to check. There are some wires which are connected to the vias' or directly to the DVD controller. As cold solder points on the controller or on the vias used to cause such a problem that you described, this is why I think you should examine those first. Attach a picture of that mod's installation diagram or a link where we could take a look at the install pics and we'll tell you what wires you have to check very carefully.

F,B,I,H,G wires are on the VIAs. First check those. Maybe a cold solder point, or a loosy wire causes this problem. As it seems there might be a problem on the bios points aswell, as the chip has to fit on the soldering points very correctly.

But first of all check the coils.

    @Ioy

The Chip is directly soldered on the Board and i dont know how i could take out the chip!

Tomorrow i first check the VIA Contacts because they were very difficult to solder for me and i think the problem could really be there!

    Thanks!

Desoldering braid can be used at the bios points to remove the chip. I'd listen to Loy, removing the chip can make sure whether the board works fine or not.

    Hi!

Today i checked the PS2 with an TV electrician and he solder the VIA Points again! After this i started with an Backup game and it wont load! After this i try a original game with Chip enabled and disabled but it wont works!

Do you have any idea where the Problem could be? If no one have an idea i will try to remove the chip

    Tanks!
