Just a quick question that maybe someone can answer. Assuming (from what I have read) that The "s" wire is all that is needed to play ps1 games.
If I switch the chip to psx - dvd movie mode and original ps1 games play perfectly does this mean that the "s" wire is connected properly? In other words if the "s" wire was not good would it still play ps1 originals in that mode ? cleo

You should be able to play original psx still if you didn't connect s wire, but you can't play psx backups.

Thanks TO7N , My problem is that I can play everything except psx backups.
Therefore would you say that it is a fair chance that the "s" wire is to blame?

From reading what Tony said, I would say yes.

    Yes and no.

No because you probably have bad quality psx backups burnt at high speeds. Make sure you're using some good cdr blanks and burn at 8x.
