Hey guys.. heres the story..
I modded a V9 with a Magic V, and did Romeo Mod.. worked fine, had some cheap dvdrs which I tried to burn it on, and games would freeze loading.. burned same games on Riteks and it worked fine. Then I got another V9 installed a Magic V, but I forgot to do the Romeo in it, and it works fine also, and before I realized I didn't do the Romeo Mod I tested it with the cheap Dvdr and it worked fine. I then went to read forums here, and read that if you change the 5V to 8V on the Romeo Mod it will work better, while still giving reliability. So I open up the first PS2 back up, and begin to measure points.. first thing I do is measure the 5V point that is used for the Romeo Mod (Yes, the point given in every diagram, right behind the network adaptor connector) and it reads me 1.86V WTF?!?... I then measured other regular points to make sure eveyrhting was alright and eveyrhting was fine, 12V where there should be 12V, and 5V where there should be 5V, etc.... well since that 1.86V really confused me.. I just found another 5V point by a fuse and connected the LA chip there.. i put the Ps2 back together.. turn it on, laser tries to read but the disc doesnt spin, at all.. doesnt even try. I took it apart.. put it back together, thinking maybe I plugged something in bad, but its fine. I then tried connecting the LA back to 12V, but that didnt help either. The Ps2 turns on, ejects, laser tries to read, but the disc doesn't spin... Please help, what can be wrong.. How can I check the LA chip?
SONY - for your stupid freaking v9 ARGG!
