V9-Installed a chip, but now it won't load any disks! –

I recently installed a DUO2 SE on my v9 PS2.
After soldering and reassembling, the PS2 boots up fine and all, it reads my memory card, and controllers are responding.
But it won't load ANY disks, DVD movie, DVD games(original, DVD+R), havn't tried PS1 games yet, but I bet it won't load them either...I put the disk in, and then the drive tries to read, then I select Browse on the menu, it would say "Disc read error".
I can hear a weird clicking noise from the DVD drive, that I havn't heard before the chip was installed.
Now what could be the problem?
Is the laser damaged? Or am I not using the chip functions right?

On my DUO2 SE guide, it says:
If Original PS2 games or backups fail to authenticate (Sony red screen)
a) Check laser (it might need replacement)
b) Check your power and ground wire connections.
c) Ensure that ALL wires are laid flat against the motherboard
d) Try cleaning the laser lens with Alcohol and cotton swab.
So...
How do I check the laser, and decide it's good or bad?
How can my PS2 boot up if the power and ground wire are not connected?
Why do all the wires need to laid flat against the motherboard? I have them clustered, but taped to the board.

Did you follow the correct boot method for the chip? It sounds like you were trying to launch them from the browser, something the Duo2 isn't particularly good with.

Noo, you're supposed to follow the boot method. For PS2 games, get the PS2 on Standby and press Eject to power it up; next put the game in and press reset. It should automatically boot it up before it gets to the Browser screen. If it doesn't, then clean up your laser. The Duo2 is not too particular about wiring so as long as you're sure they're in the correct spot.

So I took the drive out, and cleared the laser, and lifted the angle by moving the white bar thingy. I also messed around with the laser gear.
After I put it back in, the clicking noise when reading discs is even louder now, and sometimes it takes forever to eject a disc, cause it won't stop spinning.
And no, it's still not working :\ Disc Read Error all the way. Help!

And I can't disable the mod-chip:
Disable Mode:
- Hold the RESET button until the "blue clouds" comes up on the TV.
So I hold the RESET button when it's red, and when the blue clouds come up, the PS2 is turned off because I'm holding the RESET button...

on the v9 & v10's to disable the chips use the eject button instead of the reset button.

Probably worn laser

Did you read "until" so when you see the blue clouds, release the reset button.
