I've got a v9 with a HD7 laser that might not be any good. I was just wondering if someone can tell me if I can use a 400C or 400B laser in the v9? I've got a few spare lasers on hand, but unfortunately no HD7s.

    Thanks,
    m

YoU cAnNoT replace a hd-7 with a khs-400c unless it is a v5. You need a hd-7 or a sanyo open face laser. I can sell you a brand new hd-7 laser for $55 shipped.

Okay... thanks for the info N£TM£ÇH. I'll have to get back to you on the laser... I'm not sure if I need a new one yet.

    Cheers!

Just wondering something here... I've read that there are different types of laser units available: A, B, C and R-type.

Does anyone know if the R-type is compatible with a v9? Or does it have to be a HD7 or sanyo open face laser like N£TM£ÇH
    stated above?

I'm going to try swapping in a 400C from an R type this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.

I was under the impression that the HD7 was pretty much the same thing as the 'R' type laser, but apparently they aren't. But let me know how you make out precisionmods...

There is a way that you can use a 400c laser with a R type motherboard. I was sick of buying R lasers since they cost a lot more than 400c so I did the conversion and it works. The mod was done on a PS2 V5 30001R. I'm not sure how to attach a picture so once I figure it out I post the diagram on how to do the conversion.
