V9 Dead Console Works Again!!

OK i replased the LA6508 and the console works again!But afer that i put a resistor to the tracking coil so the whole restistance was about 5ohms!The problem is that the fuse near the LA6508 has blown!Does anybody know the value of this fuse?Is this right to do a shortcut?

the fuse is 2.3 Amps and dont do a shortcut or else u would blow the LA .

Hi DIOYK-13, i post here because i have a problem, i come from beglium and i have a ps2 silver with Matrix MXL2 and my LA5608 is dead. I had put a BASF CD (DiVX with Ps2reality) and i have seen the movie 5minutes, then i changed from movie and my silver didn't function anymore. So i'm sure that if i replace the La6508 i'll have the same problem with this cd because i didn't change the value of my optic (1390ohms for CD and 1842 for DVD)

I think that i would better change the value because if we put one of two resistors on the LA6508, this LA will never burn but the optic will be damaged. So my question is : Remember you what arrived when you burned your LA (wich cd or dvd did you use) and if you tested the same cd or dvd again when you have replaced your LA. Second question before your LA burned did you change the value of the optic ? And after the LA replaced did you ?

So my position is that i will replace this LA but i don't want put resistors because the optic will be damaged. Thank you everybody for your answers and sorry for my english. See you.

Ok i will tell you the story from the start.
A customer bring me this V9 pal console and wanted to put a chip inside,so i used messiah2 v1,33b.The console working perfect for a month one day the customer says that can't play anything.I removed the messiah and i replaced the LA6508 and all ok!He told me that he tried to see a movie when this happened!I didn't change the value of the optic only i put a resistor to the tracking coil so the whole restistance was about 5ohms!But the fuse near the LA6508 has blown.So i removed the resistor and i left the console as it was before and the cosnole working perfect (without a modchip inside) for 5 days now!

ok and don't you think that the resistors will be damaged the optic ? Because of course the resistor will be secure the LA but a optic cost much than an LA..

So, now my last question, you have replaced the LA, not yet change the value of the optic but there is no more chip in the PS2. The man have tried the same DVD Movie that had burnt the LA ? Thank you.

Some guys say that with resistor is better and there is no posibility to burn the LA6508.Iput a resistor to the tracking coil so the whole resistance was about 5ohm and the fuse near the LA has blown.So i removed the resistor and left the console as it was before.The console is without a modchip and i didn't give it back yet.I tested the console with movies games e.t.c.But i don't know what will happen if i put a chip!!!Maybe the problem isn't only the poor quality of the lasers but also the poor quality of the LA6508 that SONY use.I'm saying that because my console V9 pal has tracking coil:2,6ohm focus coil:5,6ohm and working perfect for 4 months now with MXL2 inside.I hope that the new LA6508 is stronger than the old so the console will work without problems!!!

Yé, but i think that Ps2 who LA burnt is because the optic is bad adjust. and i think that your friend will have the same problem if he tries the same movie DVD. And there are two solution i think, put a resistor who won't burn the LA but will damaged the optic, or adjust the optic value.

But i think that you won't have problem if you put a chip. The problem is that when you read a bad dvd, the optic is searching and the LA warm up, and of course when you put a chip you read more and more dvd-r and some are bad dvd's or cd's.

Was the movie dvd from the man a original DVd or a dvd-r ?

Personally i don't think that the problem is the optic value!The problem is bad lasers and bad LA6508.When i say bad lasers i mean bad coils in lasers.Look here and you will understand what i mean!
