    Default V9 with Crystal black screen – 12-07-2004,07:47 PM
    I get a black screen on boot with Crystal installed.

    What could be the most common cause of this?

    PS2 is turning on, drive also working normally, but no boot sound and not picture at all.
    PS2 DTL-H30001 /w no need for chip :-)
    PS2 DTL-H10000S /w no need for chip - strange thing....
    PS2 SCPH-30004,V3 /w DMS3 2.0, severly damaged! :-(
    PS2 SCPH-30004 /wo chip (need new laser)
    PS2 SCPH-50004 /w Crystal (severly damaged!)

    PSX DTL-H1102 /w no need for chip :-) brand-new & boxed!
    PSX DTL-H1002 /w no need for chip :-) (laser damage)
    PSX SCPH-1000 severly damaged :-(
    PSX SCPH-9002 /w MM3 stealth (laser damage)
    PSX SCPH-102 /w 12C508A DIP 8 wire (ONECHIP)

    No. Chip was brand new, just installed on PCB in other location, then took PCB home and tried it out.

    PS2 is not fully assembled (but everything connected)
    PS2 DTL-H30001 /w no need for chip :-)
    PS2 DTL-H10000S /w no need for chip - strange thing....
    PS2 SCPH-30004,V3 /w DMS3 2.0, severly damaged! :-(
    PS2 SCPH-30004 /wo chip (need new laser)
    PS2 SCPH-50004 /w Crystal (severly damaged!)

    PSX DTL-H1102 /w no need for chip :-) brand-new & boxed!
    PSX DTL-H1002 /w no need for chip :-) (laser damage)
    PSX SCPH-1000 severly damaged :-(
    PSX SCPH-9002 /w MM3 stealth (laser damage)

    I don't know much about Crystal Chip but I think you need to flash it before it works properly. It doesn't come preflashed with working bios.

    a blakc screen huh. MAybe connecting a controller will releive it. If not then check around your bios maybe redo them take them off first then test console the redo the wires

    But how to flash it?

    It usually states, that it comes pre-flashed with a homebrew-only BIOS, then I have to upgrade it using a cracked BIOS to play backups.

    But it shouldn't cause a black screen on boot.

    Can you tell me some things, I should check, that are common causes of this problem with other chips.

    I will cut off 3.3V power to the chip now and try the PS2.
