v9 consoles coming?? PS2 50000 to be released

Today the official website of Sony declared a new model of PS2
It seems to be offering a quite good price
Only 25000 Japanese yen for the console.
In order to reduce the production costs.
It cut the I.Link port from the mainboard...
Seems the laser is improved for reading
BOTH +/- format Rewriteable Discs...
Still to be confirmed...

It is supposed to be out in 15th,May 2003
Not known whether it has new mainboard or bios
combination. Let's just wait and see.

I will be getting one quite soon.
Hope to perform a test on this new console...
Will let you guys know asap...

Yes. It will be able to read DVD-/+R/RW due to the increasing spread of DVD-Video recorders. There will be a Component Cable and a D-Terminal Cable. Progressive Video output is supported for DVDs recorded in NTSC format. Measures "to enjoy a high quality DVD image".

Furthermore, they've reduced the dB level of the machine's Fan Noise by 30%, resulting in a noise level of cca. one fourth of the original PS2's. To reduce cost, the i.Link Port has been removed (why, oh why...)
To enable operation with the IR Remote Control, the Infra-Red receiver has been integrated into the system. The remote system newly supports operation of the disc tray as well as switching the PS2 from/to Stand-By mode.

Well, the price is the same as all other models (around $210).

They cutting the fan noise by 25%.

I.link (IEEE 1394) on PS2 is so USELESS and expensive than I'm still wondering why the hell Sony included this one before.

The new DVD controller remote include POWER ON/OFF/STAND BY and EJECT buttons on it now (at last). Plus, this one will works in all models.

naaa, as PS2 is still very young. look the last psx model came out 5 and a half years after its laucnh, we havnt hit 3 yet in the US.
