V9 board into a V10

Thought this would have been a shoe-in.

I bought a customers' failed V10 (GH-026) install. I have a board from another botched V9 (GH-023) install. Was certain I could swap in the V9 board and have a working console. Alas, it was not to be.

The unit takes about 30 to eject the tray and turn the fan on. Nothing at all on the screen. Once a disc is in, the laser appears to bang into the disc.

Any thoughts?

Try changing the laser. Funny, I woulda thought it would be a direct swap too.

Hmm strange... i just made a swap yesterday. But dident made any tests apart from booting GTA VC and SPYRO, playede the games 2 min then the costumer got it. havent heart from him yet so i think is works fine?

Sould i expect a call?

Ah, now that's what I wanted to hear.

Just confirm for me... same kind of swap? V9 mb into a V10, or something similar? And no laser issues?

Did it take the console 30 seconds to eject the disc and for the fan to turn on? If not then you shouldn't be in that much trouble.

Plus, you can actually boot the game.

If the two boards use the same type of laser the swap works. I did it several times and never had any problem. Of course there might be problems when one board uses the HD7 while the other uses the 400c laser.

hmm well i didnt check the laser type but is was running Vice City without any problems. and i havent recived a phone call from the byer yet.
lets hope i never will.

hmm a V10 board in a V9 with a KSH-400C laser? anyone done that? just didt it but the laser just spins the disc slow and makes that click sound again and again????
could it be somthing else?

v9 v10 boards should be interchangable as long as the lasers are the same. Have u tried ne other lasers? sounds like the laser Is busted..... does it still take 30 secs for the tray to eject??? maybe the laser guie rail is messed up??

dunno if the laser that was on this V10 board was a 400C but i dont have another laser and this laser was running yesterday with out problems. the laser goes up and down but way to mutch up and down. it bang down to the sled and up in to the disk!
its like it gets to much power og something?
