V8 reading problems... –

I have a V8 that is modded with a MarsAction and it has a very hard time reading CDs and it runs DVDs better, but the head moves erratic when it is close to the center of the Disc! I have changed the CD/DVD player with no luck.
Is it possible that the BA chip is damaged??

I think the BA is OK.
Try to replace the Action mars ( no wires only the PCB ) with another.
And glean the cd/dvd points with FLUX OFF or alchool

I have just removed the chip and tryed again... The situation is the same....
With some CDs the ps2 thinks its a DVD and the laser is red!
With the DVDs the laser lits, finds the groove, it moves 2 cm across the disc, returns, then goes to the inner groove and the it moves 2mm back and forth very fast. The odd beheaviour stops when the head moves 5mm away from the inner groove. This happens with every DVD (r or original)
