V7 wont read ANY disc after magic3.1 install

yeah so i installed a magic 3.1 following these instructions exactly http://www.china-magic.com/magic3/di...GIC_III_V7.jpg then i turn the thing on and it wont read ANY disc, i tried

real ps2 dvd
real ps2 cd
burned ps2 dvd
burned ps2 cd
burned dvd movie
real dvd movie
audio cd

same thing always happens, it spins slowly for maybe 20 seconds then stops and i get the browser screen which just says "disc read error". i double-triple-quadruple checked all the wires and theyre just fine, ribbon cables are fine AND dandy. its my friends ps2 so i dont know how old it is or anything but i'm fairly sure if it was having read problems he would have said something so i dont think its the laser.

take it out and hope for the best and get a better chip for that v7

i didnt buy the chip the guy did, he was like "i'm gonna get a mod chip" i was like "dont get a gay one" then 2 weeks later "i got a mod chip, its a magic 3.1" i was like ARGH but whatever my other friends V7 M3.1 works fine (although I didnt install it), plus i tried disconnecting the power to the chip to see if it would work and then i just got a black screen

so thats not really an option.

with the magic 3.1 it was very unstable take it out and get the ms2pro
