v7 w/ Matrix Infinity - Works temp, but then black screen

Hey folks. I modded a v7 with a matrix infinity for a customer monthes ago, and they contacted me just recently, because the system was acting strange. It was working perfectly, however just recently it would bring up a black screen when turning on. He said that turning the system off after it has been off for a while worked, and it would boot backups flawlessly. However after clicking reset, the system would bring up the black screen. He has put a large amount of hours on the system he said.

Any ideas what is up? The system was not dropped or nething, and the install seems to be fine because it was working for monthes without problems.

Try reflashing first, see if that changes anything. Could still be a solder problem, a cold solder joint might not show up right away (and would explain why it sometimes works, heat related). Also, check and make sure the chip isn't coming into contact with the metal shield around the mainboard when it heats up.

The couple times I've seen this, is was a high resistance joint (cold joint) that got worse as the console heated up. I'd take a touch more solder and firm up the bios points.

Also make ur gnd wire shorter/thicker. Add solder to those bios points, cauz what happens is, is that when your chip is transmitting and receiving data its going though those bios points quickly (electrons = data) if there isnt a good connection the data (electrons) cant get though easy and that causes heat. Use 60/40 solder and make good contact between all your solder points if it still happens then try putting your ps2 in a cold area (basement) and play it if it still is happening look at ur chip and look for bad solder points, if you can get a hold of a good disecting microscope you can see all the connections very clearly.
