v7 with O2:boots everything but ps2 dvd-r
v7 with O2:boots everything but ps2 dvd-r –
the machine boots everything: ps2 originals, ps1 backups, but no ps2 dvd-r. the chip seems to work ok (menus and all: perfect firmware + os install) but no dvd-r backups. could it be a a cold solder or something? the lens is good, doesnt sound like a dirty lens because w/ a ps2 backup it just stops spinning, it doesnt struggle to read (no clicks or anything: just plain stops like if there were no chip!).i also tried to force ps2 mode, autoboot, fast boot, all the same. please help
v7 with O2:boots everything but the ps2 dvd-r
I'm having the same problem: ps2 originals, ps1 orig, & backups, but no ps2 dvd-r. chip works flawless (menus and all: perfect firmware + os install) but no dvd-r backups. When I insert ps2 backup it stops spinning, All i get is this message (Unable to read disk). Any one out there please advise on how to fix this problem. Your help would be grealty appreciated.
First of all there are 3 wires to suspect. The cd,dvd are the A,B,I.Now check very well or in worst case resolder them to make sure they are ok.Also some additional notes I do hope that like any other new gen modchip you do keep the wires tidy, short ,and the power and GND have to be thick. One last tip if you have not done already is to try the 5V power supply for the chip.
Where do I locate the 5v on V7 39001 PS2???????
Minos197, Are you sure this will sol ve my problem 100%???
I rechecked every single wire all 100% intact. I'm using Ritek media GO4. Nero to burn disk.I opened it second time and resoldered A,B,I,O,and X wires. All i get is a error message saying "Unable to read Disk" when I put in PS2 Backup disk.Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

No I am not sure that this can solve the problem at 100% but only these wires are responsible for DVD cd loading. If you can enter recovery these are to check. Also where is the 5V??Right there in the scematics.IT would also help to post an image of the install.
Why would i connect a DMS 4 Pro to a 5-Volt?? If it only requires 3.3v!. I believe the installation is 100% correct. The chip work excellent, just wont boot PS2 backup disks!! Could it be the media that I'm using? What media do you use? I will post my install later for view.
Make sure A B and I are not crossing anything. Also good media is TDK, Verbatim or FujiFilm. A 5v point on the PS2 is on the voltage regulator near the RST and J wires, the leg of the regulator closest to the RSt and J wires.

Hello Radish28, ThankYou for responding. I dont think they are crossing! But Isit ok to put the DMS 4Pro to a 5Volts?? or should I just leavit for 3.3V? like the diagram calls for! Can you send me a pic of the 5Volt point on ps2 v7. Also what about which media plus or minus dvd's? for my Version 7 PS2?
