I had a problem with my reset button not working and 2-3 loud (sometimes 5-6 dull) clicking sounds when trying to load up an original ps2 game. The game would not boot, but the system came booted (ps2 logo, language screen/user preferences, then the browser screen). After getting a reply back from the forum assumed that the cable was probably damaged from disassembly/assembly of the ps2. Also assumed that install of M2 pro was successful.
I then took the ps2 apart to look for a problem. I did not see a problem and then put it back together. The reset button now works and clicking noises went away. originals and back ups both work. 3 days later the clicking noises came back (but the reset button still works) and no games including originals will boot. The system boots (ps2 logo, language screen/user preferences, then the browser screen), but cannot get a game to boot.
On a side note this is a V7 that was just purchased over christmas and using the M2 pro.
Any thoughts on this?
I split this post from the sticky as it isn't really in the sense of the thread where you posted although it did report against the subject. But you have a new problem now.
These are very difficult circumstances to diagnose without the PS2 to hand. It may be that one of the disk ribbon cables wasn't properly seated. or simply the lens needs cleaning.
