V7 magic2 only wont boot PS2 backups –

Hi all,
I havent seen a problem like mine yet so here goes...
V7 with a magic2 yellow board, GS/AR wire points used.
to boot ANY cd/dvd I have to hard reset and hold reset to blue light, or it black screens after the electrons.
PS1 originals- boot ok
PS1 CDR backups- boot ok
DVD movies - boot ok
PS2 DVD original - boot ok
PS2 CD orginal- boot ok
PS2 DVD/r - dont have any to try
the problem is with
PS2 CDR backups (from bin files off internet)- boots to the screen that says
PLAYSTATION
scea tm.
and plays the jingle but doesnt display any picture of the PS, but freezes there and will not finish booting
the cdrs media are imation and pny. would this be a problem?
I have checked all connections on the top of the board for continuity, the bottom dvd decoder connections were examined with a magnifing glass and were hard to continuity check since the chip was on the otherside of the board.
i have shortened all wires (but the power wire) to their minimum length. i used 26 awg for the 3.3v connection to the VIA (pain in the butt!) and 22 awg (i think) for the 5v and gnd connections, and 30 awg for all others.
i didnt think it was the bios connections since originals load ok.
Oh ya, and some games (jak and dexter and bandicoot especially) seem to take forever to boot.!
any tips? thanks!

Long shot but related to someone else's problem - remove Z and see what happens.
Although , I have to say, how many times have we heard that the install is OK!?
So if it's not Z, then if everything else is ok it would be down to A through I or RESET or W. So please check these again with amagnifying glass. Also on the RESET switch, double check the condition of the flat cable.

Will try your suggestions charlie_ps2, the problem is as Aerick desribes. Gonna change my ground to closer to chip and break the Z connection and see how much shorter i can make the bios wires. should i shorten mnop or rvutq? or all 9 wires?
