v7 magic 3.1 problems –
03-05-2003,12:32 AM
I installed magic 3.1 in a v7 and eveything went fine, but when i powerd it up it would not work with any games backup or originals. I thought I had cooked it. So i took out the chip and powered it up again and cd based games and dvd movies work but dvd based games do not it just says reading disc. Any suggestions?

i had similar problems, but didn't take the chip out. It was just a simple case of not having thick enough wire on the power and ground. If you took it ALL out you might have shorted something. You should hope that's all it is, and check it over again. Use a continuity checker on stuff that looks like it might be shorted (don't rely on your eyes only). good luck!

Thanks for the info I should have stated that all i had was one original dvd based game. So I got curious and went and rented another one and tried it and it worked fine so this tells me the game was bad. I never thought of the power wire being to small i'll have to try that and see what happens i'll let you know thanks.
