    Hey -
I'm trying to install a DMS3 on a PS2. I got to the part where I'm supposed to remove the bottom mettal plate. All the tutorials are worded like the thing is just supposed to come of, i pulled at it and it seems stuck, what do I do?

do you have the other side of the cage off??...if not- are all your screws out...search around for the small screws, or the 1 large phillips on the other side of the board that is under the fan...otherwise the heatsink has a pad that is sometimes pretty sticky, should give you some resistance but should come off before you could possibly damage the board.

I checked every screw is out, when I looked under the metal on the back there were clips on the heatsink that were clipping to the chip - emotion engine I guess, do I have to do anything about them? They really seem out of reach, also when I pull of the heat sink do I need to get some thermal past and reapply?

if you removed all visible screws(top and bottom) just pull the whole metal plate off. yes it sticks, but it comes off. the heatsink doesnt come off seperately, and no you do not need to put new thermal paste down as it comes with a solid thermal interface material anyway.

(just be sure to make the screws tight when you put it back together)
