Hi, my name is Jose, i´m from Spain. i´m new at this forum. I usually dont like forums because there are a lot of people saying nonsenses and almost nobody has real knowledgment; but i have read some of your posts, so i think you are the person i should talk to. First of all i should tell you that i´ve been installing chips since the beginning of PSX, i do it for living, what i mean is that i´m not a newbie. See what had happened with a recent bought V7 (GH19) WITHOUT CHIP. It reads DVD Originals and CD originals and copies. But when i put a DVD copy, the len goes crazy trying to "look for" something. I have tried with more that one len, so we can deduce the "problem" is on the motherboard. Do you think is a new copy protection based on the lens?? Sorry for the lenght of the message, next ones will be shorter.
I think this problem is related with what you were saying about the way ps2 recognizes DVD5 and DVD9
    Thanks in advance

I split this post from the other thread to preserve thread integrity. So you have chipped a PS2 v7? Which modchip? For Messiah 2 there is a Troubleshooting Guide in the FAQ/Guides section. This deals with the problem.

    It's likey to be either:

    Misinstall
    Poor DVD media
    Dirty laser

Well, He Says That He's An EXPERT Mod Installer, And The Problem Was With A Recent Bought V7...So He Has It Chipped...
...Hey Masterkey, Check The Laser Out, Compare It To Others Which Play This DVD Copy And Report Back, Also Check The Motherboard With Another Installed V7 Motherboard And Make Sure You Made NO MISTAKES.

I think he meant DVD Movie copies otherwise why would he have not already figured out that game copies won't work?

DVD movie copies should work unless they are out of region shouldn't they?
