with the top off i can see that after i put any disc inside the console spins the disc with very low power for 3 or 4 turns, then it spins slowly and only then does it spin up to full power, but this process takes about 6-7 seconds which is enough for the duo chip to fail the boot. you cannot boot backups through the browser screen w/ this chip, it must boot right away or else the boot fails. is this a laser related issue or something wrong with the chip install? i seen this behavior before with dead lenses but with those lenses it would spin the disc 2-3 times and die, but this lens seems to work ok, but too slow. please help

Anyone know about this? I'm having the same problem with a v4 and a duo2 clone.

I sounds to me like it's the laser. Try to clean the unit. If that doesn't help you could adust white cog/azimuth/pot. I believe there are tutorials available.

Thanks Ferid for the tip. I cleaned the laser, and turned the cog i 'tick' counter-clockwise. Everything is working great now!
