I recently purchased a V7 with a DMS3 installed in it. I borrwed a Sony Network Adaptor for it from a friend.

Ever since I attached the Network Adpator (which seems to work fine) I've noticed when starting up the PS2 that the fan will surge the slow down to a normal level, then often surge again. after a bit it seems to even out.. And the PS2 will do this starting from standby after its been sitting for a few hours? So it leads me to believe that its not heat thats causing the fan to speed up..

Is this normal for when you attach a Network Adaptor?
I've taken the Network Adaptor off and the fan does not surge with the Adaptor off?

    Anyone have any ideas?

The network Adaptor is from a V9 network kit, were they sell the V9 the Adaptor and usually a online game togther..

The fan has a speed control. It will spin up the fan to the maximum speed as it finds something attached to the expansion bay. (Network adapter) Then will look for the HDD. If it doesn't find the HDD it will slow down the fan again.
I guess it does that because the HDD draws power from the PS2 and Sony engineer wanted to be sure that the PSU will be aways running cool...
