v7 DMS3 ground / power question
v7 DMS3 ground / power question –
01-18-2004,03:10 AM
I just connected the 20awg. wire to PS14. I have yet to connect the other end to the DMS3 chip. When I test the ground and PS14 for opens, it tests positive for shorts. It reads at 39.4 ohms when I test between the ground and power. Is this normal/ok?

I measured on v9 the same points you checked and the reading is 34 Ohm, so i want to think its ok for your V7.

if you think about it, there will have to be some resistance between positive and negative or there would not be a complete circut. just like a lightbulb if you test both points on it.

I was hoping it was ok--just remember some one saying they shouldn't be shorted. Thanks for the fast replies.

that is not shorted!
just means the chip will draw at least I = (V/R) = (3.3/39.4) = 84mA... which is reasonably high - but is what these chips must require.
