v7 burning out laser
I got an odd problem with a usa v7 I have here with a magic3.1 in it. It worked fine for quite a while and then one day it just stopped reading dvd media whether it be original dvd based games or dvdr however cdr and cd based games work fine. I swapped the laser for a known good unit and everything worked again. I found it odd that a 400c would burn out so quickly since I've done a couple hundred v5-v7 with 400c's and not one has had a problem with the laser in this fashion.
System worked great for a couple weeks after the new laser but then same thing happened again where it can read cdr but not dvd original or dvdr. I have a feeling something inside is not right and is burning the laser out. Not really looking forward to sticking another laser in there knowing it'll just burn out again. DVD pots were untouched from their original values which seems odd that they would no loger work. Anyone else have this problem?
magic 3.1 is blowshyt especiialy on v7
Well that wasn't exactly the help I was looking for..
Plus, I've done hundreds of magic's and a good number of them on v7's and they all work fine except for this one. I highly doubt it's the chips fault.
V7's wear out too. Was the laser clicking or making any louder than usual noises? THere are several variations of each version, perhaps this one's time was up.
