I modded a v7 with a Duo chip. It doesn't boot with Princo branded dvd but will boot ritek, tdk, verbatim, and cd-r. I've modded two v4 with a duo and they boot all media fine. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with the v7? is it the laser? thanks in advance.

Well, Princo does suck haha. You shouldn't use cheap media like that with your PS2 anyway, because if the laser isn't bad, it will wear it down faster and make it bad. I don't know what the problem is, but if it can be avoided by using good media that one should be using anyway, use the good media.
ALLERGY ALERT: The above post may be nuts.

The fact is not ALL media will work with ALL machines!
It has to do with the "reflectivity" of the disk and laser reading it.
It sounds like the install is good and I would leave it (just buy higher quality disks, like RiData)
If you don't want to do that you can increase the laser power (slightly), and maybe it will get a better load.
But in this case it works and I would be happy with it.
