I recently installed the new v7 apple chip into a brand new v7 ps2 (scph-39002 MB GH-018) only to find it works well, but the customer returned the unit saying that the FMV was skipping. Removal of the chip played the FMV fine and reinsertion of the chip caused it to skip again. Swapping the chip has only caused more problems, now the tray won't eject. Upon switching on the power the machine does as it should (waits for you to hit power) once the button is pressed you can hear a motor spinning, the eject light remains on and it only switches off after holding the reset button for a few seconds or switching off at the back.
manually ejecting the tray and switching on causes the tray to be retracted at hight speed
    any ideas ???

    Update:
    • Power on no display
    • Reset works only after pressing for a while
    • power light on and off or just off

    Causes:
Power on no display - fuse ps4 (63) blown
Reset button - ribbon cable broken
as for the mod chip and FMV ...not sure wanna risk it yet . The cd tray works correctly now so not sure if it was the cable or the fuse.

Fmv skipping on originals only i believe (don't have a burnt dvd to test with)
Console works fine minus the chip.
so the question is now if the chip causes the fmv to skip what is the cause an whats the fix ?

i have tried two mounting positions for the chip with same results.

Hi, I live in Perth and I also mod 39002's, but I use the magic chip.

That works fine, unlike my competitors I sell only quality.

I install what the boss supplys me. But i don't wanna install cheap stuff. The apple chip seems fine now ..but i shall see in time how well it lasts ... like all man made things it's prone to die sooner or later.

I have fixed the fmv problem though ... seems the wire used had a problem causing the chip to malfunction. Thicker wire on point 0 and point 10 works a treat.

Has anyone worked out the RGB fix for a 39002 yet ?

    That's what www.china-magic.com says officially.

However, NTSC V7 Magic 2 happily plays PS1 imports.
