v6 ps2 messiah 1.22 install kicking my ass
v6 ps2 messiah 1.22 install kicking my ass –
When I have chip installed Ps2 (dvd & cd) / PSX / Movie
originals start to load the screen stays black, then it kicks me to the browser and says "no data". All backups Red screen.
Well after the install failed I started with the basics checked all my connections and made sure everything was working right. It all checked good. So I started reading charlie's faqs and searched the message boards. One thing I ran accross was putting a movie original in and seeing if it reads MOVIE on the upper right hand screen, it did infact read movie. So we know the dvd controller is working correctly. So I tried disconnecting the bios points to test if it will load games with gs2....negative same damn problem. So I get pissed off and back out of the install. It works, so I proceeded to reinstall from scratch. same damn problem when I am done. I thought possibly bad chip? nope not that either. So I again unhook the bios wires to see maybe if it will work with gs2 this time. NOPE! still same problems. Next instead of uninstalling the chip I just removed the power wire from the chip, so the damn playstation decides to work now.
I read lots of stuff in the faq's and messages and the only thing I can come up with is a laser issue, but would the playstation have laser issue with a modchip, but no issues with out it ? Or is there something else I am missing here?
Thanks in advanced for any inputs
It can be the laser or Messiah2.
PS2 can read DVD-Video more "easily" than any other game, to check the laser you need some original PS2 games to test this.
If it work even with original PS2 games (DVD & CD), so it's the M2, check if there're any bad soldering on modchip.
well it did recognize both dvd & cd ps2 originals as playstation 2 discs, and I have already installed a second messiah chip, I will either try a 3rd one or a dms chip and let you know how it turns out thanks for the tips
Please check the Messiah 2 chip along the MNOPQRTV legs. if any of them are bridged, that is your problem.
Note that pins 1 & 2 are meant to be bridged on the Actel.
There were absolutly 0 bridges on either of the messiahs I tried no apparent bad soldier joints on the chips either, I am not ready to say the chips are bad though I would like to try them in another ps2 first. On a brighter note it worked when I put a dms3 chip in it right away. I would have tried more messiahs but I have been wrestling with this ps2 since sunday so I was worn thin.
