I have a v5 ps2 with a duff motherboard. I wanted to know if a v7 motherboard is compatible with all of the v5 components. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks

I would say probably . All of the connectors are the same. The power supply is definitely compatible. There may be some issues with the laser, but I can tell you I currently have a V7 with a V5 laser in it, and a V5 with a V7 laser in it, and they both work better than they did with their original lasers.Originally posted by quicksticks

However, the V5 laser that I put into the V7 was a specific kind that I haven't seen often in the V5 - it was the kind without the black plastic cover. I know these lasers have "types" (A,B,C etc...) but I've never really bothered to check what type of laser they were, I just swapped them.
Probably someone has done more with this issue than I have.
Yes .
All conectors is the same.
The probs is the lasers.
Is 2 types of them.
If the 2 consoles have the same laser type then all is OK
Look at http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showth...ighlight=laser
