V5 Magic 3.1 Black Screen on PS2 Mode
V5 Magic 3.1 Black Screen on PS2 Mode –

What's up, it's been a long time since I've posted. I haven't modded a PS2 in over a year, now.
I once modded my girlfriend's PS2 (she's a Soul Calibur freak and wanted to be prepared for the Japanese release). I did that back when Tekken 4 Japan came out and it's worked ever since. This past week, she tried to play a PS2 game on it, but when you boot up in PS2 mode (single tap to power on), it stays at a black screen. There's no Playstation logo or anything. Now, if we boot into PSX/DVD Video mode, everything's fine. When booting to Modchip Off mode, it's fine just as well. Has anyone had this problem before? Does anyone know a sollution so that I can fix it quickly on Friday night? I'm sure it's a problem with the BIOS, but I need more opinions.
Thanks!

What chip are you running?
What version do you have(Ps2)?
Have you opened the machine up to take a look for loose connections?
Does the Ps1 mode acctuly boot a BACK UP Ps1 game?
Hows the ground connection to the chip?
I havent run into this problem before, but it sounds like it might be the ground connection. When you boot a DVD or Origanal Ps1 the console uses the origanal bios (because you can do that with an origanal Ps2). But this depends on the chip that your using.
The basic's to a black screen are 1. Check ground for size, length, and placment (I've moved a ground up to three times to get a picture) 2.Check fuses (because the machine worked before it may have blown a fuse recently). 3. Also ckeck the power connection, there might be enough stable power to bypass the chip (for all the things that use the origanal bios), but not enough to run the chip. And then make sure nothing is grounding out to the case of the Ps2
