i install a messiah in a ps2 with a gh015 bios i supposed it's a v5 although i never encounter a v5 with gap bios and boots originals, ps1 orig and backups, but no ps2 backups nor cdr nor dvdr.

i use the diagrams for v5/v6 and config the messiah for a v5, soldering the 4 points in the chip

when booting backups of ps2 it display's the red screen asking to use a ps1/ps2 disk.

i try using ar2 and it works with ps2 cdr's. don't know how to use it to play dvd'r also.

it's possible that the chip won't work with this ps2 or did i miss something.

What version is your Messiah chip and what version is the BIOS? Does your BIOS say 10060 and is your Messiah chip 1.08 or earlier?? If so, those Messiah chips don't work on 10060. You need 1.22 or later.

I don't ever recall seeing a Gap BIOS in a V5/V6. But there are many PS2s out there.

i think it's a v5/v6 because in the case as 30004R and it's a gh015, the messiah chip is the first one not messiah2.

but it's a gap bios, and maybe it's why it does not boot ps2.
do you have schematics for those or do i have to use the ones of v4 gap bios.

so i must sold the same points as it was a non-gap bios?
if so, i already do that and continues not to boot ps2 backups only ps1.

could it be the chip, the bios is 060

From what you describe that CD-R loads with AR2, I would say that something is wrong in your wiring. In the past I have given this advice to Messiah 1 users. I have highlighted the stage you appear to have reached and so I would suspect the BIOS wiring.

If you are having trouble with your Messiah, back out of your installation and re-install in these steps:

    1/
Install 3.3v, GND, SCEx and RESET. Then test with a PSX backup and an original game of your region. If they boot OK, proceed to step 2. If they both fail to boot, check the jumpers on your Messiah. If the PSX game fails to boot, check your 4 wires.

    2/
Install wires A through I onto the CD/DVD Controller. For v5, use the Alternates (nice large pads) for B-I on the other side of the board. For all others use the legs of the CD/DVD Controller and the 'razor blade technique' to stop bridges between chip legs. Don't solder to any vias (they look like copper rings) as you can conduct too much heat into the multi-layer board and render your PS2 useless. [b]Now use AR2/GS2 to boot any PS2 backup game (NOT an import original); CD-R for ease and convenience. If it boots OK, proceed to step 3[b]. If it fails to boot (and you don't suspect your laser) check the wires A-I. It won't be the Messiah that's wrong at this stage.

    3/
Install wires M through W onto the BIOS chip. Now try to direct boot your backups and/or import originals. If a DVD-R game (known to be good) fails to boot but the CD-R discussed at (2) does boot, then suspect your DVD laser diode.

    Hope that helps.
