v5 blown fan fuse –
07-28-2006,06:57 PM
Hey guys....I need a quick and dirty method to fix fan fuse. Do I just jumper it cause I don't feel like taking off the existing fuse. I want to know if there are any adverse effects...I always am a firm believer that fuses are there for a reason and are meant to blow. But I powered on the unit and it seems that rail just terminates at the fan. Chipped and everthing else is perfect. No weird sounds or static. Everything is okay except fan is not working. Thank you.

You do not need to take off the existing fuse. You must replace the fuse though, do not jumper it with a single wire unless you want to damage some component in the future.

I don't recommend you just jumper it. If something goes wrong again, the line will burn up a lot of components without the fuse... Do yourself a favor and replace it with $1 component than have a dead PS2.

@Tony
Thanks, I think I will do just that. It's my own system anyways. I was messing around with an ice based sx28 chip. I was a little bored and decided to plant one of these in a v5. Hmmm!
It works though.
