V4 PS2 fan dead?
V4 PS2 fan dead? –
This morning i noticed my Ver. 4 PS2 fan wasnt working, so i opened it up and it was pluged in. Later i went to my friends house and swaped fans with his ver. 4 PS2. My fan works fine in his and his doesnt work in mine. So im alittle worried about what this might mean, is there anyway to fix this without getting a new motherboard, cause i had a Magic 3.1 Professionally installed and dont wanna lose it. Please help!!!!
It may just be a simple blown fuse near the fan - or the connector itself may be pulled slightly loose making the fan cease to function.
The control circuit should be intact if the station itself still works.
Thanks for the reply, i was just wondering how long my PS2 will stay on without the fan, like how long till it over heats, also can i use one of those USB fans instead? I really love my PS2 and wanna play it, but im sure overheating isnt good for it at all. What would you suggest i do...
Thanks again man,
Do not run it without the fan! big bad!
If the station overheats you are 70% unlikely to get it working again.
Much better to check the fuses and replace them if blown.
If you can't then maybe try the USB fan idea - clever idea that!
Only thing to check is the current supply ability of the USB port - it may not be able to supply enough power for an off the shelf retail USB fan made for a PC...
but I don't know one way or the other so give it a go.
By USB fan i ment one made for the PS2 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ategory=11319,
im just not sure if it would be enough with out the back fan, also i dont have any equipment to check if a blown fuse is my problem, is there anyother way to tell, also where is the fuse located...
Thanks alot man
